Few plantations provide trucks to haul away teak logs, however some plantations still use elephants to drag teak logs through the woods to their next location.

Using elephants to haul teak logs has been a practice used for centuries. Some elephants have been trained to stack these teak logs into stable and even piles. Some elephant herds have been trained so well that they will stop working at the sound of a bell.

Once the teak logs have reached their destination, such as a workshop, the logs are cut, graded, kiln-dried, and carved into the gorgeous outdoor teak furniture that you can find here on Dragonfly Teak.

After outdoor teak furniture has been carved and is ready to go, hundreds of pieces are loaded on to containers which are loaded on to large ships. These ships can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months to reach their destination, especially if it going from Indonesia to America.

General Cleaning

If you have not purchased any Teak Cleaning products, you can use a 2 to 1 ratio of laundry detergent with bleach and water. Carefully scrub your teak furniture with a soft bristle brush. Be sure to rinse the furniture off completely as dirt residue and any remaining suds can prevent your teak furniture from achieve the perfect patina.

If you choose to restore teak to its natural golden brown color, there are many products that do this. Generally this step require the use of a base and then an acid.
